There are lot mny articles on linux everywhere. The ordinary people are very much attracted to the word free. Somehow the word linux is also associated with this word free. This has created a lot of interest in the minds of the ordinary people. The question, “how does linux work?” is asked in lot many different shades. If it is free then how it does work is one shade of this question. People are skeptical about free things working properly. Let us think about this question “how does linux work?” from the point of view of the ordinary people.
The ordinary people are mot interested in any of the technical mubo jumbo. There can be any number of tutorials for beginners available on the internet giving all the required info about linux. But we are not here to go in to those technical steps here. Let us say that there are two different types of thought processes working here. The first is that of Microsoft or similar paid operating system. The second thought system is that of linux operating system. The difference in this will make it clear how this linux works in reality.
In case of windows the idea is to provide you all in one. It is the manufacturer who decides what sorts of applications you need. You are many times given so many applications which are simply of no use to you. This is just overburdening your system. Then in case of upgrades you will have to go on buying new updates every time. After some time, the new innovations make these old operating systems simply redundant.
The thinking or the approach towards the technology in case of linux operating system is totally different. They focus on one product. Make it most efficient and perfect. It is most robust and most stable. You can use it anywhere. It is like Lego building block. You can use it in as many different ways as you want. You have the general structure of the house. You can choose your own plumbing or wiring and decoration etc. This linux operating system gives you the real freedom of what you want.
This is free. But this is not important point. You have to learn to install, operate and use this linux operating system. In other word this is not a passive operating system. This is active participating operating system. This means that you become a developer yourself if you use this linux operating system. The answer to the question” how does linux work?” can be that it makes you a developer. You can have a real robust and stable operating system. You can have your own upgrades. You can have only those things that you are interested in. Linux offers you creative freedom.
