Hewlett Packard is the company that owns and sells the famous HP Pavilion laptops and desktops. The company only started selling computers in 1995 and they are the first computer company not to have their laptops and desktops as two separate lines. To make their history short, Mr Hewlett and Mr Packard were classmates at Stanford and started the company in 1939.
The HP Pavilion comes preloaded with Windows as the operating system. You pretty much aren’t going to get any other system preloaded unless you are looking for various forms of Vista or XP. The laptops series they offer have the initials ‘DV’ before the different number series; this helps to differentiate between desktops and laptops.
Hewlett Packard recently bought the Compaq brand and still offers new laptops by Compaq. These are the cheapest brand new computers you are going to find for sale, but compare well with the cheapest offers from other companies.
There are a few qualities that make the HP laptops unique compared to others. The keyboard, for one, is somewhat smaller than the other brands. HPs can also tend to run hotter than other brands as well, meaning you might need to invest in a fan. These can cost as little as $10. One last thing is that the pre-installed software does have some ads that users are not too happy with. These can easily be deleted though through the control panel in Windows, and most users have only identified these ads as a minor nuisance.
What is nice about HP laptops though is they do try to deliver just as much, if not more, than others do for the same price. They pack the computers full of features that other companies might only use for their top of the line computers. These things might be embedded web cameras, good speakers, decent microphone, multimedia card slots, remote control for videos and one-touch buttons for multimedia programs as well.
As of late, the slogan for the company is “The Computer is Personal Again”, by this they mean you can customize your purchase to make your computer exactly what you want it to be. Each and every computer they sell can be personal to the person who wants it. Over the last year there have been several commercials that speak to this effect, showing how different people order different hardware, different software and other specifications for their personal Pavilion.
Another part of it being personal is they offer financing. It might seem like a dream come true, but yes you can get an inexpensive laptop, packed with features and have it financed too, just by going through HP. The company has worked hard these last 13 years to offer you all of these benefits, and it certainly shows in their sales as they are one of the top 5 computer brands in America.
To get one you can purchase through their site, in stores all over the country, and through several other online stores as well. Almost everywhere you go you can find an HP, so getting your hands on one should not be troublesome at all. And getting personalized with HP should also be easy. Enjoy your new laptop!
