If there’s one thing my son loves, it’s playing kids online games. There are so many games on the internet that kids these days have an enormous variety to choose from. All you have to do is make them sit down in front of a computer and watch their eyes gleam as they race through space or try their luck at bowling. Many websites offer kids online games which are educational or just pure fun. Earlier you would probably have seen teenagers playing on video games at arcades or even at home. But these days the age of online gamers has gone up considerably. Today you will even see four and five year olds completely engrossed in computer games.
Where Do You Get These Games?
The internet is a wonderful thing. Not only do you get any information you want but you find a whole gamut of kids’ online games as well. Most of the children’s television channels have their own websites and offer many games on them. Disney, Cartoon Network and Nick are just some of them. My five year old loves to go bowling with Spongebob Squarepants, learns to spell words with Dora, The Explorer and races with the Power Rangers! He enjoys being able to play with his favorite cartoon characters as do thousands of other kids all over the world.
The kids online games are all made to be fun and a learning experience for the kids. There are however some factors which you need to be wary of. As a parent, it is up to you to screen the games your kids are playing online. Most of the games are fine, but there are some games which can be very graphic and violent in nature which are not suitable for children at all. These games can cause irreversible psychological damage or turn your child violent as well.
There should a limit on the time kids spend in front of the computer playing online games. Children need fresh air and other physical activities as they grow, and sitting in front of the computer for hours could cause them to be obese and dull. Another thing to be careful of is game addiction. Your kids could get totally addicted to the kids online games and this is considered as bad as alcohol or drug addiction.
There’s no need to panic just yet though! With a bit of control and a watchful eye, all the above can be avoided. Children do gain a lot from kids online games. They learn to concentrate and learn about the world and people around them. Completing all the levels of a game gives them a sense of accomplishment which is a great boost to their self esteem and confidence.
