Pcmcia Slot Of Ibm Laptops

It is the organization formed by 500 companies over the world. The organization manufactures memory cards for laptops. The organization basically manufactures three types of cards for the IBM ThinkPad.
The PC cards or the PCMCIA is actually a peripheral that is designed for the laptops. The original idea was to expand the memory space of the laptop using the peripherals. These types of innovation of the data storage in the peripherals have let to many new innovations in the world of laptop production and companies like the IBM make it a point to provide excellent services of these kinds.
* The first types of the card that are produced are 3.3 mm thick. They are basically used for increasing the RAM or the ROM to the ThinkPad.
* The second cards that can go with your ThinkPad are about 5.5 mm thick. The cards are often used for the modems, fax machines and the fax modem cards.
* The third type of card that can go with your ThinkPad is about 10.5 mm thick. These cards are thick enough for the portable disk drives.
Just like the three types of the cards the PCMCIA manufactures 3 different types of slots.
These slots can be conveniently fitted on your IBM ThinkPad.
* The first type of the slot can hold only the type 1 of the card.
* The second type of the card holds the type 1 and the type 2 of the card.
* The third type of the slot can hold the type 3 of the card or the type 2 or the type 1 in combination.
In your IBM think Pad you can replace the PC cards without rebooting your IBM ThinkPad. For example you can replace the memory card with the Fax modem card when you need to send a fax from your IBM ThinkPad. When the function of sending the fax is done the you can again replace the fax modem card with the memory card in your ThinkPad again without rebooting your ThinkPad.
