Video cards are the mechanisms that are responsible for visual output in your laptop or pc. It has separate co processors for processing graphical applications. Video cards nowadays also have storage space for memory instead of RAM. The graphic applications are done by graphic cards.

The job done by graphic cards are complex. The images you see on the screen are full of pixels. There are millions of pixels and so the computer must have to decide which pixels it should select in order to create an image. For this it needs a translator. The translation work is done by graphic cards. But for this your laptop must have built in applications for supporting graphics.
