Vps Programs
In this small article about VPS programs I will try to explain different concepts involved in VPS programs. It is necessary to understand how the server functions to understand what is a VPS or virtual private server. Let us first try to understand how the dedicated sever works.
There were only two types of servers to start with. First was shared server and another was dedicated server. In case of shared server all the users will share the resources. And working of one account will affect the working of the rest of the account holders. Though there were means of checking it, it was never full proof. Though the shared server idea is economic, it had its own disadvantages of insecurity and others.
In case of the dedicated server you had three components. 1] Computer hardware. This will consist of disk drives, memory and processors. There will be other components in hardware. 2] The operating system. For example it can have Linux or windows operating system. 3] Various programs. These will include web and mail servers. The programs never operate the hardware directly. The program make request to the operating system. The operating system operates the hardware on the behalf of the program. Consider an example. The program wants to view a file. It will request the operating system to show particular file. Then operating system works with hard ware and tells the hard ware to show file. Once the file is located on the hardware, the operating system makes it available for the program. This is the way program is related with server.
Consider the VPS or the virtual private server. The VPS server will have its own operating system and programs. But VPS or the virtual private server does not have its own hardware. A VPS program makes a request to the operating system of the VPS or the virtual private server. This VPS operating system makes a request to the operating system of the server. The operating system of the server operates the hardware. It is possible to have multiple virtual servers because of the nature of VPS server’s working method. The relation between the VPS server and VPS program is outlined as above. This is the reason of each virtual private server working like a dedicated server.
The VPS programs work through different operating systems and this makes the isolation of all the virtual servers possible. This is the reason of VPS or virtual private server having full security. As there are multi servers possible in single physical server, the costs of using physical server resources are shared totally. So you get VPS servers at extremely low prices as compared to the cost of the dedicated server.
