One of the biggest problems is direct financial losses, which occur through the spyware “keylogger.” This is when someone steals your online banking passwords, and then transfers the money to their account. Other unwanted problems can include slow system performance, display of unwanted content like toolbars or popup ads, and a loss of privacy with personal history potentially exposed.
With the internet continuing to expand, it is exciting to watch the direction it is moving towards. However, at the same time it is frightening to think computer users are becoming more and more knowledgeable and are capable of things like spyware. The most important thing to know with spyware is that you must be aware. By knowing what spyware is and what causes it, you should be more aware of the potential harm you may be causing yourself.
